Like any mother, Florance wants her family to be safe, happy and healthy. But she’s faced more obstacles than most to make that a reality.

Florance and her husband are from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Back home, they had a happy and full life.
When war came, they were left with a terrible choice – stay in their home country and risk death or leave everything behind to save their lives.
They decided to flee to Uganda.
Years later, their son, Thiery, became deathly ill. Florance was terrified. She couldn’t imagine life without him.
